I received my RoadID as a Christmas present a few years ago and it has been a staple for when I go out into the woods for a trail run or mountain bike ride. The idea behind it is that if you reach the point of exhaustion and bonk, the next passerby will be able to see the highly visible strap (which also has two strips of 3M reflective fibre weaved into it for when you are out at dusk/night) and locate your emergency information. Since most sportswear has few pockets and a wallet is no fun bouncing around in a pocket, this ID strap is ideal! The 5cm wide nylon adjustable strap is held by velcro (so watch that it doesn't catch on your nice moisture wicking shirt when you put it on or you will get pulls) and is very comfortable, even when sweating. It is rather water absorbent however, so if you stop to water down with a nearby hose or lake, the strap will remain wet for quite some time.
Strap with my numbers blurred out :-) The laser etched lettering would have to take a serious scrape in order to deface it.
When ordering a Road ID, you can customize it with important information such as medical issues, allergies, blood type, emergency contact information or even an inspirational quote all laser etched on the stainless steel plate. With the current generation of straps you now have the option to order an 'interactive' version of the plate that includes a website link to all of your information in case it won't fit on the plate (six lines X 24 characters), or in case you move/change phone numbers (replacement plates are $16.99).

I think the RoadID is top notch and I recommend that everyone should consider purchasing one either for themselves or for someone they love. I have read touching stories of seniors buying one for their daily walks and how the strap got them out of a bind and home safely.
The Road ID has also expanded into many different models, the rubberized strap Elite, the thinner strapped Slim, the Shoe ID, the dog-tag style Fixx ID and the Ankle ID.
The Road ID: Wrist ID Sport comes in six colours (Black, Blue, Red, Yellow, Pink and Purple), and three sizes (Small, Medium/Large and Extra Large). It costs $19.99 (USD) and they ship to Canada for $1.49.
