From February 21 to 28, 2015, the cross-country skiers participating in the 13th edition of the Traversée De La Gaspésie (TDLG) event will be on their way to pure pleasure on the snow-covered trails of the Gaspé Peninsula. For seven days and across nearly 200 km, skiers from around the world will be sharing the trails to discover the Gaspé winter. An innovation this year, participants will also have the option of snowshoeing the TDLG.
In fact, this year – for the first time – the TDLG is officially offering showshoers the opportunity to participate in the event. “Over the past few years, we’ve offered participants the option of snowshoeing for a day or two. Given the sport’s popularity, we decided that this year we would offer participants the choice of snowshoeing all week long during the TDLG cross-country ski event. Showshoers will be able to enjoy the same infrastructure and safety available to skiers as they practice their favourite sport on the incredible trails on the Gaspé Peninsula,” indicated Claudine Roy, the organisation’s CEO. Snowshoers will trek 10 to 20 km per day and will be accompanied by a safety team. As during recent editions of the TDLG, skiers who want to take a break from their skis will also have the option of snowshoeing a stretch of trail.
