Gear Review: Ruffwear Bivy Cinch

You can easily bring the Bivy Cinch along with you in a daypack

The Ruffwear Bivy Cinch is the perfect compliment to the Ruffwear Bivy Bowl (read our review of it here) for bringing grub for your pooch on your next hiking or camping trip.

This 1.8L collapsable bowl will hold enough kibble for any sized dog's meal. The top of the bowl closes with a pull-cord to cinch it shut without any issue of food dribbling out. If you are headed out on a daytrip, you could easily measure out a single day's rations and bring it along with you in the bowl.

When it comes time for Dinner, loosen the cord and pop up the edges of the bowl to full height.

Perhaps the bowls only stubborn aspect is that single bits of kibble can get trapped under the lip which will keep you dog busy trying to fish them out. There is a non-slip coating on the bottom, although our pooch comically pushes the bowl around to get every last morsel tucked into the corners. The bowl is a very light 96 grams and there is also a little loop on the bottom side to hang the bowl for storage, or you can clip it to the outside of your pack as well.

We've been testing the bowl for over a year and it has yet to let us down. Nothing has come un-stitched, torn or otherwise let us down. It does have a watertight seal and can double as a water bowl in a pinch as well. It is very easy to clean out if you have smelly dog food, with a wipe of a wet cloth.
