With the return of snow here in Ontario this week, it might just put you back in the mood to enjoy the season. Dress in layers and head to Algonquin Park to take part some of their excellent festivities such as skating at Mew Lake. When you reach the East or West Gate, when you pick up your Daily Vehicle Permit, also pick up the Algonquin In Winter brochure. It includes tips to get started, a complete map of Highway 60 and each trail you can take, information for skiers, and a fill map of each of the Ski Trails (Leaf, Fen and Minnesing).

Keep up to date (and download .PDF maps) using Algonquin's Current Ski Conditions site which is updated quite frequently to see the conditions of Fen Lake, Leaf Lake and Minnesing trails.

Algonquin also celebrates the Winter in the WIld Festival yearly. There are outdoors events such as walks, guest speakers and guided snowshoe outings.

Trail Swag ventured out to Algonquin Park this weekend to check out the 2013 Winter in the Wild Festival. Ontario Parks and the Friends of Algonquin Park planned a jam packed schedule that included activities for all ages throughout the day.
