Camping Tip: Nalgene Hot Water Bottle

Camping Tip: Nalgene Hot Water Bottle

As the temperatures dip and the nights become a little more frigid, here's a camping tip to help make it a little more enjoyable. Did you know you can turn your Nalgene into a hot water bottle? The trick is to either turn off the stove before it reaches a rolling boil, or let it cool down a bit after boiling. The typical "everyday Tritan" Nalgene bottle has a temperature range of -40 to 212°F, but even after you pour the water into your Nalgene, leave the cap off for a few minutes afterwards for it to cool down.

As always, be careful when dealing with hot water and stoves near your skin. You can always wrap the Nalgene with a towel as well. Never boil water in a Nalgene directly.
