Backcountry Movie Premieres Monday at TIFF
The goal of Trail Swag has always been to promote exploring the wilderness, but every now and again we're up for a good scare! To scratch that itch, check out Backcountry... a brand new movie premiering Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival. Based on a true story, Backcountry stars Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue), Eric Balfour & Jeff Roop and it was written & directed by Adam MacDonald.
Hyper-busy executive Jenn (Missy Peregrym, Rookie Blue) and her sporadically employed boyfriend Alex (Jeff Roop) are preparing to take a break from the big city for a few days of camping and communing with the wilderness. But when they have an unsettling encounter with Brad (Eric Balfour), a strange guy wandering through the woods alone, Alex decides to take an impromptu detour — one that leaves them at the mercy of the forest, and god knows what else.
At the time of writing, Monday's World Premier has already sold out (congratulations!), but there are still tickets available for Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. at The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema. If you can't make it to TIFF, the movie will also be playing at...
- Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sept 15th at 9 p.m.
- Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival on Sept 19th at 9 p.m.
- Calgary International Film Festival on Sept 22nd at 4:45 p.m. and Sept 26th at 9:00 p.m.
