Paddling Algonquin Park

Join Kevin Clute, a Park Naturalist with The Friends of Algonquin Park, to explore Ontario’s oldest and best-known provincial park. Covering more land area than some small countries or even a Canadian province, Algonquin Park is home to a combination of over 2,000 kilometres of canoe routes, over 1,500 backcountry campsites, more than a thousand waterbodies, resulting in countless opportunities to develop your next paddling adventure. A distinguished canoe tripping location, Algonquin Park attracts nearly a million visitors a year with about one-quarter heading into the Park’s backcountry. Through this presentation, discover why people from around the world are passionate about Algonquin Park, plus learn how to plan a backcountry canoe trip that matches your particular skill level. Whether an Algonquin Park expert or a first-time visitor, this presentation will share tips to make your extended backcountry excursion, or a day trip, the best it can be in Algonquin Park.
Kevin Clute is on staff with The Friends of Algonquin Park, a Canadian registered charity, non-profit, and non-governmental organization established in 1983 for people passionate about Algonquin Park. The Friends operates retail locations, recruits members, and fundraises to support the natural and cultural educational goals of Algonquin Park. Through his work as Group Education Program Coordinator and Special Projects Leader, Kevin develops, arranges, and conducts programs for a wide range of visitors who want to experience Algonquin Park. Kevin is involved with programs and projects that educate thousands of visitors about the complexities of Algonquin Park annually. Whether leading canoeing excursions during his work time, or canoeing with family and friends, Kevin is an avid canoe tripper who has explored extensive amounts of Algonquin Park and is passionate about sharing Algonquin Park with others.

Join Preston Ciere as he shares his stories about Killarney Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s absolute-must-visit parks, known for its gem-coloured lakes and quartzite hills. Experience Killarney through Preston’s eyes, as he shares stories and photos of his favourite routes, the best vistas and tips for making the most out of your own trip to this incredible place.
Preston is an avid canoeist, popular blogger, outdoor advocate, and portageur extraordinaire! He dedicates a lot of his time back in the city encouraging people to go portaging by sharing stories of his adventures while offering entertaining yet very helpful trip advice. He is very passionate about the outdoors and thinks everyone should be having fun in a canoe or under one. Preston truly loves the places that Ontario’s lakes and rivers take him to, so much so that his blog is titled Portageur.ca!

Author and canoeist Kevin Callan paddled the entire length of the Thames River and will be presenting his epic journey of journeying down Canada's most southern river. You won't want to miss this one!
Kevin (aka The Happy Camper) is the author of 18 books. He is an award winning filmmaker and a keynote speaker at outdoor events across North America. Kevin is also a regular guest on several television morning shows and CBC Radio. He has won several writing awards, writes a column for Paddling Magazine and Explore Magazine.
