B.C. Couple's Quick Thinking Helped Search & Rescue Locate Them

Catherine Gibbons, and Damon Brodeur were out for a five day camping trip exploring B.C.'s Columbia Valley when their vehicle got stuck in the snow. They were camping and exploring backcountry roads near Invermere, B.C. when family members noticed that they hadn’t heard from them in nearly a week.

Their quick thinking helped Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) locate them safe and sound.

They put out an orange tarp, or blanket, and had written ‘help’ in the snow and also drew an arrow to where they were.

Hmm… an orange tarp sounds like a pretty good idea to have in our vehicle’s emergency kit as well. Well done!
