Saskatchewan Provincial Parks Sets Dates For Day Use And Camping
Saskatchewan Provincial Parks has announced that they will be slowly ramping up usage over the next few months following closure due to COVID-19. Starting Monday, May 4th, 2020 the parks will be open for limited day use activities, as well as camping reservations. Camping will open on June 1st.
Day-use (May 4):
Open for fishing, hiking and biking;
Physical distancing rules still apply – use caution and be mindful while on trails;
Parks will provide limited access to bathroom facilities for day-use only, with enhanced sanitization protocols and increased frequency of maintenance. All other shared facilities will remain closed (showers, laundry facilities, cookhouses, clubhouses, firewood distribution centres).
Recreation areas including beaches, playgrounds and picnic areas will remain closed.
Camping (June 1):
To limit travel between provinces, camping in provincial parks will only be open to Saskatchewan residents starting June 1, until further notice;
Only 50% of campsites will be available;
Campers must reserve online or through the call centre;
Campers are encouraged to use their own personal facilities, as public showers in the service centres will be closed;
Swimming lessons will be closed;
Camp-Easy will be closed until further notice;
Group camping will not be permitted;
Seasonal camping fees will be prorated to reflect the June 1 opening.
Camping Reservations
Reservations for campsites will open at 7 a.m. on the scheduled days below, with the queue opening at 6:40 a.m. Staggered launch dates and the queuing system will be implemented again in 2020 to help manage the volume the site experiences.
