Book Review: Outdoors The Scandinavian Way By Lars Falt
Survival expert Lars Fält has a new series of outdoors books called Outdoors the Scandinavian Way that have recently been translated to English and clearly explain and offer tips on topics such as Summer & Winter camping and survival. The whole series is easy to pick up and dive in to, and Using a Knife is no different especially if you are looking to buy or have purchased your first knife. I would even go as far as to say that this is the book that should go along with every new knife owner’s purchase.
The book walks you through everything to do with knives such as their history, the various parts, and how to properly grip and safely use it through beautiful photos and easy to understand text. Lars understands that the audience for this book range from bushcrafters to campers who are looking to be a little more resourceful. Lars walks you though how to utilize the knife effectively to make feather sticks, a fishing rod, and even how to fillet a fish. He also makes sure to teach you how to care for the knife so that it lasts for generations.
If you have been using a knife for a while however, you might not get as much out of this book. You will be sure to pick up some new aspect you didn’t know before when learning from such an expert, but just as the title of the book says, it is definitely aimed at easing someone into using a knife and treating it with respect.
I recommend picking up/ordering your from Canadian Outdoor Equipment.
