Trail Mix: Shout-Out To Altitude-Sports & Fjallraven
I know… there nothing like talking about a warm puffy jacket in the dead heat of summer. A versatile piece of gear that is great to have from early Autumn to late Spring. Being able to reach down into your pack and turn a tiny ball into an incredible blanket of warmth is well worth bringing with you to battle the elements (or frosty nights). When my zipper started splitting every time I zipped it up however, its versatility waned.
Thankfully in this case, Fjallraven has a lifetime warranty on repairs like this (Checking with local tailors and repair shops, out of warranty zipper repairs can cost $100-$200!). The only catch was that I needed to include my original proof of purchase… and in this case, I purchased it 8 years ago! Who knows where that is or if I even kept it at all?
On a hunch, I guessed correctly where I had purchased it from, Altitude-Sports and after logging in to their website I checked the ‘Previous Orders’ section. To my surprise, there was every single thing I’ve ever bought dating right back to 2016. Most retails either don’t log every purchase or have a rolling cut-off, especially after migrating to a new design.
So after filling in the form and shipping off my jacket (pre-paid by Fjallraven), a month later I was delighted to have it show up again in my mailbox, good as new (and they even threw in a cool little patch for any tears that are bound to happen). Kudos to their tailor as the stitching was excellent and you couldn’t even tell that the zipper had been swapped out at all.
So here’s a HUGE tip of my canoeing hat to both Fjallraven for offering a lifetime warranty on their excellent gear, and Altitude-Sports for helping me through a bind that they didn’t even know I had. It’s always worth while supporting businesses like this and to top it off Altitude-Sports is a Canadian company.
