Gear Review: Outdoor Research Pelmo Sweater

I was looking for a comfy sweater for the cold Winter months that would look great and keep me toasty warm. On Outdoor Research’s website, they have a section dedicated to “Mountain Life” clothing which looked to fit the bill. Clothes that were functional outdoors, but had a distinguished style. I chose the Pelmo Sweater, which is a pull-over sweater made from a wool-blend (44% polyester, 39% wool, 17% nylon) and has a 1/4-Length Front Zipper.

It was just what I was looking for, the sort of sweater that keeps you warm at a lodge, when your feet are up after a day of snowshoeing through the backcountry.

The best part is the soft inner lining that you notice when fully zipped up (the zipper has a soft zipper guard at the top as well for when you’re outside). It has a zippered arm pocket, which is just large enough to stash an energy bar or your cell phone.

I would be perfectly content with using the sweater for relaxing, but it turns out it is multi-purpose. The materials that it is made from is both wicking and quick drying, which means not only is it a good insulating mid-layer, but is highly functional to wear all day when out on the trails or backwoods.

The sweater is incredibly well made, securely stitched, and has easy to zip, zippers (the pull tab on the front is my favourite). This Pelmo Sweater is available in three different colours for Men, and also check out the similar Pelma Sweater for Women.
