Catch The Grand Opening Of MEC Québec On April 1st
MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop) will be celebrating the grand opening of its store located at 1475 Lebourgneuf Boulevard (near the Galeries de la Capitale) in Quebec on Saturday, April 1st at 9 a.m. There will be gifts for the first 250 people who arrive, a contest and a delicious s’mores station for snacking!
The new location has 30,000 square feet of interior space which is almost twice the size of the original store on St-Joseph Street (which is now closed). The new area allows 68% more member products, including double the equipment and a greater selection of clothing and products for almost all outdoor activities such as climbing, cycling, running, camping, fitness, yoga, water sports and winter sports.
Members will also benefit from the services of a brand new bike shop, including a positioning station, as well as a ski shop. Various products will also be available for rent for winter sports, white-water kayaking and paddle surfing. There will also be a conference room and space for workshops.
As with other MEC locations, having a Green building is always a priority. This location is equipped with a high performance envelope and a high-efficiency heating, air conditioning and ventilation system, as well as a low-energy lighting system. Carbon offsets will be purchased on behalf of MEC for all energy consumed by the store.
