Multiple Petitions Appear To Reopen Camping In Ontario
The stay-at-home order for Ontario residents has riled quite a few people, to the extent that a few online petitions have started appearing in hopes to reverse the decision. The “Remove Crown Land Camping Prohibition Immediately” has over 15,000 signatures, while the “Stop Ontario’s Overnight ban - cabins, trailers, tents and cottages” has over 3,000.
The petitions mention that the pandemic has caused a lot of mental burden on people, and spending time outdoors would do wonders for alleviating that. Spending time outdoors is also a great way to socially distance, and should be encouraged. It’s hard to tell if the petitions and the supporters take into account the dire circumstances our hospitals are facing (especially if you were injured during these times) but there must be some balance between the two.
