Ontario Parks Is Reducing The Maximum Length You Can Camp In 2023
Ontario Parks announced a change to the maximum length of time you can camp in 2023 to either seven or 14 (depending on the park). This is a reduction from the regular 23 night stay and only applies to select parks between July 1st and the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend. Outside of this window, camping can still be booked for the regular length of 23 days max. This new initiative doesn’t affect backcountry camping .
Over the past several years, camping at Ontario Parks has grown steadily from 4.3 million reserved campsite nights in 2014 to over 6.6 million reserved campsite nights in 2021.
With reservations on the rise, we want to ensure that more Ontarians can enjoy campground campsites at some of our more popular parks during our busy summer season.
This initiative is to hopefully allow more people to enjoy camping at Ontario Parks without the frustration of a slim selection of available sites.
