French River Changing Backcountry Reservation Model For 2025

Ontario Parks has been updating previous campers of the French River Provincial Park that their backcountry reservation model is going to change for 2025. From the e-mail…

Dear fellow paddler,

As a previous visitor to French River Provincial Park, we’re letting you know of exciting new changes to the backcountry reservation model for 2025.

Beginning on Monday November 25, 2024, Ontario Parks will be implementing a 5-month in advance, site-specific reservation model for all backcountry paddling campsites at French River Provincial Park.

What this means to you:
For bookings made for the 2025 season, you will be able to create your reservation up to five-months in advance of your
arrival date. That means, on November 25th, 2024, you will be able to make a reservation for April 25th, 2025. In the
past, those seeking to acquire permits were only able to do so up to 14 days in advance.

For bookings made within the five-month window for the 2025 season, you will be prompted to select a specific site for each night of your reservation. In the past, reservation holders have been asked to select a “zone” along the river.

Updating our reservation system to provide visitors with the ability to choose their preferred backcountry site is one of the ways we’re listening to customer feedback and continuously working to improve the visitor experience at Ontario Parks. All previous reservation restrictions will apply when booking your site.

Bookings can be made online on the Ontario Parks Reservation Website.

We look forward to seeing vou in 2025.
