Ontario Parks Is Changing Temagami's Reservation Model

Back at the beginning of November, Ontario Parks announced that they were changing the backcountry reservation model for the French River Provincial Park for 2025. Now, it looks like Temagami (Obabika River Provincial Park, Solace Provincial Park & Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park) is moving to a similar reservation model…

Dear fellow paddler,

As a previous visitor to the Temagami Cluster of Provincial Parks, we’re letting you know of new changes to the backcountry booking model for 2025.

Beginning on December 9th, 2024, Ontario Parks will be implementing a 5-month in advance, lake zone/area reservation model for all backcountry campsites at the Temagami Cluster of Provincial Parks.

What this means to you:

For bookings made for the 2025 season, you will be able to create your reservation up to five-months in advance of your arrival date. That means on, December 9th, 2024, you will be able to make a reservation for May 9th, 2025. In the past, those seeking to acquire permits were only able to do so up to 14 days in advance.

For bookings made within the five-month window for the 2025 season, you will be prompted to select a specific lake zone/area for each night of your reservation. In the past, reservation holders have been asked to select a “zone/park”.

Updating our reservation system to provide visitors with the ability to make a reservation 5-months ahead and choose their preferred backcountry zone is one of the ways we’re continuously working to improve the visitor experience at Ontario Parks.

Bookings can be made online on the Ontario Parks Reservation Website.

We look forward to seeing you in 2025!

What do you think of the five month window? I’m glad they aren’t going to a site specific model.
