Land Of Fire: Apocalyptic Canoe Journey In Canada's Burnt Boreal Forest

Land Of Fire: Apocalyptic Canoe Journey In Canada's Burnt Boreal Forest

Canoe The North just released an hour and a half video of their trip to Woodland Caribou Provincial Park.

As soon as the ice came off in the spring of 2024, my trusty little dog Betty-Lou and I, made our way to one of the most incredible canoe destinations I’ve ever explored; Woodland Caribou Provincial Park (WCPP). This incredible part of northwestern Ontario is vast, remote, isolated and full of wildlife.

This region has experienced numerous wildfires in the past few years, leaving vast swaths of boreal forest feeling more like a scene from a post apocalyptic movie than a northern forest! But this to me is part of what makes it so incredible and unique! In my experience, few places come close to matching Woodland Caribou Provincial Park as a wilderness destination. To me, it’s a canoeing paradise, and this trip was definitely one to remember.🍁
