Parks Canada No Longer Offering Annual Backcountry Wilderness Permit
Western Parks Canada locations such as Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Kootenay National Park, Waterton National Park and Yoho National Park are no longer offering their Annual Backcountry Wilderness Permit.
The pass was $68.70 and allowed you to explore the backcountry for an unlimited number of nights each year instead of paying the nightly $9.80 fee. In a press release Parks Canada said that they were discontinuing the pass to "implement more realistic user fees and offer better services".
Curiously, the annual pass still exists at Kluane National Park in the Yukon.
