Mike Ranta To Receive The Meritorious Service Medal

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada unveiled a list of 123 remarkable Canadians and canoeist, Mike Ranta was on the list. Mike received The Meritorious Service Medal for supporting youth and veterans through his cross-country canoe expeditions, which have also highlighted Canada's interconnectedness and its canoe heritage.

Mike Ranta currently lives in Killarney, Ontario and is currently hard at work to build the world’s longest paddle called The Big Dipper, which will measure 110 feet.
